Number of Coronavirus cases in India nearing 200,000

New Delhi/Mumbai: The number of Coronavirus cases in India is nearing 200,000. India reached seventh place in the list of countries with the highest number of cases in the world, on Sunday. The health ministry informed that from Sunday till Monday morning, 230 Coronavirus deaths were reported from the country and a whopping 8,392 new cases were added. There has been an addition of nearly 8,000 cases for the second successive day, as 7,994 cases were also reported on Saturday. The number of cases in the country has increased by more than 25,000 in three days.

On 25th May, India entered the list of top ten countries with Coronavirus cases. On that day, the number of cases in India was 135,000. Then on 28th May, India became the country with the highest number of cases in Asia. On that day, the number of Coronavirus cases in the country had crossed 165,000. But with the increase in the number of screenings for Coronavirus, the number of positive cases has also increased and within four days India has surpassed France in the list of countries with highest Coronavirus cases.

But taking into account the information submitted by the states till Sunday night, it is clarified that the number of cases reached 198,182.

Coronavirus claimed 76 lives and 2,361 new cases were reported, in 24 hours, in the state of Maharashtra. Mumbai reported 40 deaths and 1,319 new cases. The total number of Coronavirus cases, in Mumbai, has reached 41,099 and there 1,319 deaths have been reported from Mumbai. The total number of deaths in Maharashtra reached 2,362 and the total number of cases has crossed 70,000.

Coronavirus claimed 57 lives and 1,295 new cases were reported from Delhi, in the last 24 hours. An official from the Niti Ayog and a researcher from the Indian Council of Medical research have reportedly contracted Coronavirus. On Sunday, there were 13 deaths and 1,149 new cases were reported from Tamil Nadu. After Maharashtra and Delhi, Tamil Nadu is the third-ranked state in the number of cases. Chennai is reporting the highest number of cases. The number of cases in this state has reached 23,495. The highest number of cases, after Maharashtra, have been reported from this state.

25 deaths and 423 new cases were reported from the state of Gujarat in one day. Before this on Sunday, 31 deaths and 438 new cases were reported from Gujarat. The number of deaths in this state has reached 1,063 and the number of cases has reached 17,217. The maximum number of Coronavirus deaths have been reported from Gujarat, after Maharashtra.
