China safeguards Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist from UNSC’s action

New Delhi: China has blocked the United Nations’ proposal to take action against Jaish-e-Mohammed’s deputy chief Abdul Rauf Azhar. It has done so by citing that it needs more time to consider the proposal made by India and the US. India has reacted to this. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has warned that China’s delay in taking action against terrorists is unfortunate and unnecessary.

China safeguards Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist from UNSC's actionMoreover, India and the US have proposed action against Jaish chief Maulana Masood Azhar’s brother and Abdul Rauf Azhar, who is the deputy chief of this terrorist organization. It seems that China has once again defended the terrorist by blocking this proposal presented before the United Nations Security Council. China blocked the proposal under the pretext that it needed more time to think about it. China has said that no one should try to draw a different conclusion from its decision.

Two days ago, China defended Abdul Rehman Makki, a terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba. India’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, criticized it without directly naming China, which is protecting terrorists. By citing it, China has supported its decision regarding Abdul Rauf Azhar. But India’s Ministry of External Affairs has noticed this decision of China. Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India has said that China’s delay in taking action against terrorists is unnecessary.

Furthermore, Bagchi added that it is unfortunate that the international community is not raising its voice with one voice in its fight against terrorists. Even earlier, India had criticized China for taking the initiative to protect terrorists. But it has not affected China. The message is being given by this country that China will continue to prevent the action of the United Nations Security Council against the terrorists who are causing casualties in India by advancing technical reasons in the future as well.

China safeguards Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist from UNSC's actionIn 1999, Abdul Rauf Azhar was involved in hijacking Indian Airlines flight IC814. Azhar was also involved in the attack on the Parliament of India in 2001 and the terrorist attack on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot in 2016. China has once again provoked India by preventing action against such terrorists. Not only India but also America had proposed this. The other 14 member states of the Security Council have supported the proposal jointly put forward by India and the US. In such a situation, China defending the terrorist becomes a matter of attention.

Earlier too, China had taken the initiative to block the Security Council’s action against terrorists regardless of India’s security interests. But for the past few months, India has been reacting strongly to such a decision taken by China. There is a strong possibility that this decision taken by China will have repercussions in India in the future as well. The reaction given by the Ministry of External Affairs of India is getting its indications.
