Canada to use ‘Emergency Powers’ to stop the Freedom Convoy agitation  

Ottawa/Paris/Washington: – Senior Canadian Minister Bill Blair warned that the government could use ‘Emergency Powers’ to stop the Freedom Convoy agitation started by truckers. Blair said that this agitation is not only against the Corona regulations, but it also has other issues connected with it. Thus, he claimed that it was a cause for concern. The extent of the agitation started in Canada is increasing, and protests by the truckers were seen even in France and Netherlands. Whereas senior US Senator Rand Paul announced support to the Freedom Convoy agitation.

Moreover, the truckers had announced an agitation against the new regulations imposed given the Coronavirus pandemic. Truckers entered the Canadian capital, Ottawa defying the orders issued by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Truckers have parked their trucks at important locations in the capital, including the area near the parliament. At the same time, protests have also started in other cities, including Quebec and Toronto.  

The Canadian government has made massive deployments of security agencies to stop the agitation. At the same time, the government has issued a warning that the truckers will be arrested and put behind bars. Certain government supporter groups also have taken to the streets against the Freedom Convoy agitation. The government has succeeded in opening up a bridge connecting to the United States, with deployments of additional security agencies. But the truckers have expressed the resolve to continue with the agitation without letting these affect the spirit.   

Repercussions of this agitation, which was initially restricted to only Canada, are being felt even in Europe. Hundreds of truckers stormed the French capital Paris and sloganeered against the government. Protests were held even in the Dutch city of Haig in support of the Freedom Convoy agitation. It is being informed by the concerned groups that the truckers from France and Netherlands will storm the Belgian capital Brussels soon. Following Europe, protests supporting the Freedom Convoy agitation were seen even in New Zealand. Flags of the United States and Canada were waved during the protests.   

Meanwhile, Senior US Senator Rand Paul also announced support for the Freedom Convoy agitation. Paul appealed that the truckers from the United States also should reach and camp in capital Washington. The Department of Homeland Security has indicated the deployment of additional security units given the possible agitation in the United States.
