'Freedom Convoy' movement of truck drivers to emerge in US and Europe

Ottawa/Washington – Freedom Convoy agitation carried out by the truck drivers in Canada over the last two weeks is likely to spread in the US and Europe. The Dept of Homeland security of the US has given a heads up about this to the Biden Administration. The trucks have blocked the highway connecting the US and Canada and caused damage to the economy. Leading US automotive manufacturers are forced to stop their production.

The Freedom Convoy is an agitation led by the truckers in Canada against the new COVID 19 regulation imposed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the last month. Thousands of trucks have gathered in the capital city of Ottawa and created a blockade near parliament and other important areas in the city. Similar agitations are seen in the city of Quebec and Toronto against the government. They have announced not to leave unless their demands are met.

The agitation in Canada has started to receive support from other parts of the world. Preparations for protests like the Freedom Convoy have begun in the US and Europe. The Dept of Homeland security has informed the Biden administration about the agitation being planned from California to Washington. It might disrupt the upcoming Super Bowl games and President Biden‘s State of the
Union address.

The truckers from Canada have blocked the highways connecting US and Canada, causing disruption to the traffic and adversely impacting the trade which happens by road transport between the two countries. Ford and Toyota, leading automotive companies, have been affected. Toyota has closed its factory in Ottawa. After the US, the Freedom Convoy movement is gathering support in Europe.

In anticipation of such agitation to gain momentum, European countries have taken necessary steps. France, Belgium, and Austria have issued orders to prevent the truck drivers from coming together.
