Afghanistan needs double peace, within & around it, says MEA Jaishankar at Raisina Dialogue

New Delhi: Indian MEA S. Jaishankar warned that the problems of Afghanistan can not be resolved unless peace is established in and around that country. Even now, thousands of foreigners are causing bloodshed in Afghanistan. They should not have any place in the Afghan peace process. Afghan National security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib and Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif participated in the Raisina Dialogue held in New Delhi. While speaking to them, Indian MEA Jaishankar blamed Pakistan for the instability in Afghanistan, without a direct mention.

Accusation of Asian NATO against QUAD is a mind game, claims Indian Foreign MinisterUS President Joe Biden announced the complete withdrawal of US military on 11th September. NATO also has announced the withdrawal of its military from Afghanistan. Many countries, including the United States, are expressing fears that a fierce conflict will break out in Afghanistan after that. The situation created because of this will pose a threat to Indian Security. Moreover, a strong possibility is being predicted that Pakistan will perpetrate terrorist activities in India using the Taliban. Although the Taliban leaders are saying that the use of Afghanistan against India will not be allowed, India is looking at their assurances very cautiously.

Against this background, talks were held regarding Afghanistan during the Raisina Dialogue. During this virtual discussion, the Indian Foreign Minister assured all the cooperation for peace and stability in Afghanistan. At the same time, Foreign Minister Jaishankar retorted that the Afghan problem would not be resolved unless peace is established in Afghanistan and the neighbouring countries. India, the United States, and Afghanistan have repeatedly accused Pakistan of instability, anarchy, and bloodshed in Afghanistan. Saying that Afghanistan needs Double Peace, Indian Foreign Minister is pointing to the same problem.

Thousands of foreign terrorists are fighting in Afghanistan. Jaishankar warned that they should have no place in the Afghan peace process. At the same time, Jaishankar pointed out that the Indian stand in this matter has forever been that the peace process in Afghanistan should be controlled and implemented by the Afghans only. Indian Foreign Minister says that Pakistan should not have any place in the peace process, in different words.

Whereas, Afghan National Security Advisor endorsed the claims made by the Indian Foreign Minister. Mohib appealed that the Taliban should give up the path of violence and start talks with the Afghan government. Whereas, Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif also appealed to the Taliban to come to the negotiation table. The Iranian Foreign Minister warned that the Taliban should start comprehensive talks with the Afghan government and any delays could prove dangerous.
