The US is at risk of domestic division and disorder – Senior diplomat Henry Kissinger warns

Washington: ‘Today we again suffer from domestic division and international disorder about arguments about who we are and what we stand for. We find it difficult to muster the domestic cohesion necessary to face the challenges ahead of us,’ warned senior diplomat Henry Kissinger. In an event held in memory of former US President Ronald Reagan, Kissinger also made it realise that the US was not ready to face the challenges of modern times.

At the same time, Russia’s operation in Ukraine and Iran’s development of devastating weapons also prove to be big challenges. Besides, technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) have been trying to change human consciousness. ‘Each of these present developments requires a combination of strength and conciliation’, said Kissinger. He drew attention to the fact that it was not right for the US to fail to unite at the domestic level when facing many big challenges.

Moreover, he added that the US would remain prosperous and secure if US’s leadership contributed towards stabilising the world. The former National Security Advisor Kissinger claimed that the world could not be stable on US isolationism. He also praised Reagan, saying that Former President Reagan knew the US needed to be powerful. Even earlier, Kissinger had expressed stern displeasure at the extreme opposition between political divisions and each other in the United States.
