Karachi: One of the five Pakistani terrorists involved in the 1999 Kandahar plane hijack was killed in Karachi. Zahoor Mistry is the name of the terrorist and he was shot by two unidentified assailants who came on a motorcycle. As per received information, Zahoor Mistry has been living there with a changed identity for many years now. It is said that the killing was carried out in the last week.
On 24th December 1999, the Indian Airlines passenger flight IC-814 coming from Kathmandu to New Delhi was hijacked by Pakistani terrorists. The airplane, which had 193 people, including 178 passengers, was taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan via Amritsar, Karachi and Dubai. 
The then Taliban regime in Afghanistan had given shelter to the hijacked airplane.
The Pakistani terrorists released the aircraft after the Indian government released three terrorists. All the five terrorists involved in the hijacking were assisted by the notorious Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Zahoor Mistry AKA Zia, who was staying under the name of Zahid and running a furniture shop in Karachi for many years. Two unidentified assailants who came on a motorcycle fired shots at Zahoor Mistry. There is CCTV footage of the incident.
