Since the last month, over a thousand Afghan civilians have died in the Taliban terror attacks. This includes citizens from Helmand, Kandahar and Herat provinces. Moreover, over 2.41 million civilians flee, fearing Taliban. Besides, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concerns over these events. Even [for] a country that has tragically known generations of conflict, Afghanistan is in the throes of yet another chaotic and desperate chapter – an incredible tragedy for its long-suffering people, said Guterres.

The message from the international community to those on the warpath must be clear: seizing power through military force is a losing proposition. That can only lead to prolonged civil war or the complete isolation of Afghanistan, warned Guterres. The UN Secretary-General mentioned that the Taliban has captured Afghan cities, villages and provinces. Moreover, it is violating human rights by imposing strict sanctions on Afghanistan. Guterres slammed the Taliban for human atrocities, especially against women, children and journalists.

At the same time, Taliban must end this conflict; this is in the best interest of Afghanistan and its civilians. For this, Taliban must comply with the rules decided during the Doha negotiations, said Guterres. But, as per the claims, the Taliban set out to capture Afghanistan will not listen to international groups or the communities.

Meanwhile, the Taliban has increased its military strength over the last few months, claim Pakistan media. Besides, it has obtained the Eagle Drones, MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters, which the United States gifted to Afghanistan. Of these, the Taliban can use Afghan military helicopters. So, Taliban has trained pilots to fly these, claims the Pak media. Moreover, it is said that the Taliban may exchange Eagle Drones with China to procure ammunition.
