Israeli cooperation made counter-terrorism campaign successful: Sudanese Army Chief

Khartoum: – Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan claimed that Sudan is gaining more success in the counter-terrorism campaign due to the growing cooperation with Israel. By the end of 2020, Sudan had established cooperation with Israel by signing the Abraham Accord, like the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. After that, the Sudanese military overthrew the incumbent elected government through a coup. Protests are being held in Sudan against this action of the army.  Besides, the military has claimed a foreign hand behind the protests.

Sudan was once known as an arch-enemy of Israel. But the cooperation between the two countries started growing in a big way following the Abraham agreement. Israel is assisting Sudan in a big way in exchange for security and confidential information. It has been revealed that the officials of the Sudan military have visited Israel several times in the last few months. Against this background, the claim made by Sudanese army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan becomes important.   

In January, the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad unit had visited Sudan. After that, Israeli military officials also visited Sudan. The claim made by the Sudanese army chief regarding the success of the counter-terrorism campaign and these visits by the Israeli officials attract attention. While speaking regarding the cooperation with Israel, General Burhan also claimed that Sudan was not afraid of any possible sanctions imposed by the United States or other countries. He also said that the United States is being given incorrect information regarding Sudan.
