Israeli fighter jets launch airstrikes near Russian naval base in Syria -

Damascus: Three people were killed in the airstrikes launched by the Israeli fighter jets in Syria. The Syrian military sources shared this information. These strikes include capital, Damascus and the attack near the Russian naval base at Tartus. As per information, the Russian air defence system at Tartus was destroyed in the Israeli attack. A few weeks ago, it was reported that the Russian air defence system had successfully busted the Israeli attacks in Syria. It was claimed that Russia had taken this action because of the differences between the two countries. In this scenario, the Israeli action to destroy the Russian air defence system becomes significant.

According to the Syrian state news channel ‘Sana’, airstrikes were carried out in two major cities on Sunday night. The Syrian news channel alleged that Israeli warplanes entered the Lebanese airspace and carried out these attacks in Syria. A Syrian official said that three Syrian soldiers were injured in an attack in the suburbs of the capital Damascus. Around the same time, Israel took action against the Iranian military base in Tartus on the west coast of Syria. The Syrian news channel said that Iranian bases were destroyed in this attack. The international news agency quoted Syrian sources saying that the attack occurred just eight kilometres from the Russian naval base. Three Syrian soldiers were killed in this attack and sources say that Israel destroyed the air defence system in this attack.

Israel has not yet responded to the claims made by foreign media. But Israeli action on the Iranian military base in Tartus is noteworthy. A few days ago, the news of Israel carrying out similar attacks on an Iranian military base in Syria was published. Local media had claimed that the Syrian army responded strongly to these Israeli airstrikes. But in the next few days, Russia activated its S-300 air defence system in Syria against Israeli airstrikes.

Israel has provided military assistance to Ukraine in the conflict raging between Russia and Ukraine for the past four months. At the same time, Israel supported the decision against Russia in the United Nations. Enraged by this, Russia seems to have used air defence systems against Israeli fighter jets attacking Syria. Israel retaliated against Russia by destroying the Russian air defence system in the attack in Tartus on Sunday night.
