Iran warns Israel of strong retaliation if it crosses limits in Syria

Tehran: Iran has threatened ‘If Israel crosses its limits in Syria, it will face a strong retaliation from Iran and Israel will regret its actions.’ Israel is consistently attacking the bases of Iran and its affiliated groups. The intensity of these attacks is seen to be increasing. Against this background, a senior Iranian diplomat seems to have threatened Israel.

Asghar Khaji, senior advisor to the Iranian Defence Minister, issued this threat to Israel. Iranian military influence is on the rise in Syria and this is a major threat to Israeli security. Declaring that this will never be tolerated, Israel initiated a spate of airstrikes in Syria. Since the last few weeks, the intensity of these attacks has increased. Israel does not give an official reaction regarding these attacks. But the Israeli leaders have accepted that the Iranian locations, in Syria, are being targeted.

Against this background, Asghar Khaji threatened Israel. Iran has intervened in Syria, following an official request from the Syrian President. Iran is fighting with the IS and other terrorist organisations. In this scenario, if Israel crosses its limits, Iran will retaliate strongly by carrying out attacks. Khaji warned that this retaliation would make Israel regret its actions.

Khaji issued this threat while speaking to a Russian news agency. Russia too, had expressed displeasure over the Israeli attacks in strong words. If Israel feels that a threat to its security has been created due to Syrian situation, Israel should immediately inform Russia about it. Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, had assured that Russia will take the necessary steps to eliminate the threat. But Israel ignored the assurance.

Israel has accused Iran of increasing its influence in Syria taking advantage of the civil war in the country to overthrow the Assad government. Israel accused that there is a strong threat to Israeli security, against the background of the presence of Iranian military and the Iran affiliated terrorist organisations, in Syria. Arms build-up is being done in Syria to launch an attack on Israel. The movements of Hezbollah have increased alarmingly, especially in the Golan Hills region. Therefore, the Israeli leaders have repeatedly clarified that Israel will continue to carry out airstrikes in Syria, for its security. But Israel does not reveal the details of these attacks. Besides, it does not even officially react to the reports regarding this.
