Israel has launched six airstrikes in Syria since the beginning of March. Besides, it was revealed that the targets of these attacks were Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers and weapons stationed in Syria. Israel neither acknowledged nor denied the responsibility for attacks. But Syria and Iran have accused Israel of carrying out these attacks. Besides, both these countries have threatened Israel with dire consequences.

Internal conflictThe Syrian news agency reported an airstrike in the Syrian city of Homs around Sunday morning, in which the Military Advisor of the Revolutionary Guards, Meghdad Mehghani, was killed. By informing Iran about this, the Revolutionary Guards said in their statement that Israel, which carried out this attack, would have to pay a heavy price. Even earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry criticised Israel’s attacks in Syria and accused them of violating Syria’s sovereignty.

Internal conflictFurthermore, speaking to the media after the Israeli cabinet meeting held on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made statements that led to attention. He said that Israel is currently in an internal conflict. But this conflict will not affect Israel’s operations against its enemies. Prime Minister Netanyahu warned that these operations would continue. He added that they were forcing countries supporting terrorists to pay a heavy price. Through this, the Prime Minister of Israel has signalled that Syria supports Iran-backed and anti-Israel terrorist activities, and hence Israel has been carrying out airstrikes in Syria.

Saying that Israel will not stop its aggression, Prime Minister Netanyahu said he would advise the enemies not to make a mistake. No matter what happens, Israel has warned that it will not allow Syria to become a base for anti-Israel activities. Israel says that Iran was using Syria as a weapon depot, which eventually will be used to attack Israel. Therefore, Israel claims it has been mandatory for national security to eliminate these weapons and Iranian agents in Syria. In addition, Syria and Iran had repeatedly warned Israel of the serious consequences. But Israel seems to have further intensified its air strikes in Syria regardless.
