Schools, colleges to start classes 9 to 12 under Unlock 4

New Delhi: Schools and colleges, which have been closed since March, will finally be restarted. As per the announcement of the union government, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry have issued permission. Standard Operating Procedure also has been prescribed. Classes for 9th to 12th standards have been permitted to start. But the decision of starting the classes is left in the hands of the school and college administrations. Delhi, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh governments have decided to start the schools.

The decision to partially start the schools from 21st September under the Unlock 4 has been taken. Rules and regulations have been published for schools and colleges. According to this, permission has been granted only to start classes for 9th to 12th standards. It is said that online and distance learning will continue.   

The school administrations have been instructed to create facilities to maintain a distance of six feet between students. Instructions to strictly follow procedures like washing hands from time to time, wearing face covers, holding one’s palm in front of the mouth while sneezing and coughing, paying proper attention to one’s health and no spitting have also been issued.   

All the staff and students have to pass thermal scanning before entering the school or college campus. If there is a doubt that a student is Corona positive during the thermal scanning, he/she will be isolated, and the health department and the parents will be informed. No student with signs of Corona will be allowed in the schools of colleges.  

Schools have been permitted to call only 50% of the teaching and non-teaching staff. Permission in writing from the parents has been made mandatory for the students from 9th to 12th standards to attend school. Other than this, the option of online classes will also be available.   

No student will be allowed to crowd due to the threat of Coronavirus spread. It is binding on the schools and colleges to prominently display the contact numbers of the state helpline and the local health officials. Students and teachers living near the containment zones have been prohibited from attending school. At the same time, orders have been issued to sanitise the schools used as quarantine centres thoroughly.
