Shanghai: In the last month, the number of Coronavirus patients in China’s economic capital, Shanghai, has gone up to one lakh. The foreign press and analysts have claimed that this incident reveals that the ‘Zero Covid Policy’ implemented by the Chinese Communist Party regime has failed. The local industrialists and commoners have slammed this anti-Covid campaign as a ‘total disaster’. Despite that, China has denied changing its policy and announced raising the lockdown in Shanghai for an indefinite period.

Besides, the number of patients only multiplied to a record level despite the lockdown. Over the last few days, the number of patients has increased daily by 10,000. Moreover, it has surfaced that patients crossed 19,000 on Thursday.

The count of Covid patients in Shanghai has crossed one lakh in just a month. As per the report by Chinese agencies, the number of Covid patients in Shanghai has gone up to 1,14,000. Last week, the senior officials and agencies in Shanghai confessed that this repercussion results from not being prepared adequately. This confession was made seven days ago and the situation has still not improved ever since. Besides, fears are being told that several businesses might get shut down due to insufficient financial aid and other assistance by the government. Several foreign companies have decided to shut down their factories and offices in Shanghai. This will hurt the global supply chain and economy, warned analysts. Last month, in the Chinese University of Hongkong report, it was warned that the Chinese economy would have to suffer a loss of over $45bn per month due to the Zero Covid Policy.
