China is the most challenging threat to space security, a senior US military

Munich: General Bradley Chance Saltzman, the head of the US Space Operations, has warned that ‘The traditional use of space is rapidly changing. China is the most challenging threat to space security. That is why the US space policy must change.’ General Saltzman also expressed concern over the arms race that has begun for space dominance.

For the past few days, there has been a verbal clash between the US and China over the issue of the spy balloon. President Joe Biden has claimed that China’s spy balloons did not harm US security. However, the US Department of State and Department of Defence have accused China of sending balloons to spy on US strategic military bases.

Even in the ongoing security meeting in Munich, Germany, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and China’s senior diplomatic officer Wang Yi exchanged accusations with each other.

While talking to the press, US Space Operations chief General Saltzman, who had attended the UN meeting, announced that China posed a threat to space security. He also said that the danger to space from Russia after China was also something that needed to be considered. General Saltzman reminded us that the US is not far behind China and Russia in the space race.
