Israel welcomes Australia’s decision to list Hamas as a ‘terrorist outfit’

Sydney/Jerusalem: – Following the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel, Australia will also include Hamas as a terrorist organisation. Moreover, Australia has clarified that the political wing of Hamas also will not be spared in this action. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has welcomed the statement and said that Australia had taken a step in the right direction against terrorism.

The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan and the European Union had declared both the militant Al-Qassam Brigade group and the political group as terrorist organisations. At the same time, Australia had included only the Al-Qassam Brigade in the terror list. New Zealand and Paraguay also had adopted a stance similar to Australia. Karen Andrews, the internal Security Minister of Australia, declared the entire Hamas organisation a terrorist organisation, saying that the Hamas ideology can never be acceptable. There is no place for the violent ideology of Hamas in Australia. It could directly affect the Hamas political group and people connected with Australia. The action could be initiated against the funds collected from Australia for Hamas.
