Attempt to arrest President Putin is a ‘declaration of war’ against Russia, Security Council deputy chairman Dmitry Medvedev warns

Moscow – ‘Imagine if a nuclear-armed country’s current head of state visits a country like Germany and is arrested in that country. If this happens, this will be a declaration of war against Russia’, warned the deputy chairman of the Security Council and former President Dmitry Medvedev. He also mocked the German leaders who made such statements.

Last week, the European-based International Criminal Court (ICC) filed war crimes charges against Russian President Vladimir Putin and issued an arrest warrant. The US and European countries, including Ukraine, have supported this warrant. The West also claims that if Putin visits any country that recognises the International Criminal Court, he could be arrested in that country. Russian leaders have sternly criticised this, and Medvedev’s warning is part of it.

Dmitry Medvedev had previously threatened that the International Court of Justice in the Hague could become a target of Russian missiles. Medvedev then warned of direct war, citing statements made by German leaders. He warned that Russian missiles would target the chancellor’s offices and the German parliament. In an interview with Russian news agencies, Medvedev also pointed to the increased possibility of nuclear annihilation.

The former President of Russia warned that Western countries’ supply of deadly weapons to Ukraine is bringing the world closer to nuclear annihilation every day. Medvedev said the West is trying to break Russia, and the US is at the forefront. Medvedev also claimed that the US is Russia’s enemy.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rybkov pointed to the growing nuclear threat. Rybkov said that the threat of nuclear conflict is currently at the highest level compared to the last few decades. At the same time, he warned that Russia is not in a position to reconsider the ‘New Start Treaty’ with the US.
