Artificial Intelligence may cause Nuclear Destruction – Australia Member of Parliament, Julian Hill MP warns

Adelaide: ‘Artificial general intelligence has the potential to revolutionise our world in ways we can’t yet imagine, but if AGI surpasses human intelligence, it could cause significant harm to humanity if its goals and motivations are not aligned with our own. If humans manage to control AGI before an intelligence explosion, it could transform science, economies, our environment and society with advances in every field of human endeavour. AGI, or that a malevolent actor may harness AI for mass destruction’, warned Australian Parliamentarian Julian Hill.

Over the past few days, it has been revealed that school and college students in Australia are using AI-based software to prepare question-answers and essays. This is becoming a major concern in the education sector in Australia. It is being claimed that such software will make the exams meaningless and the progress of students who are not used to hard work will be stunted. It is being warned that this will directly impact Australia’s education system. The issue was raised in the Australian Parliament two days ago.

Moreover, Member of Parliament Julian Hill presented a speech prepared using this software in Parliament. Hill said the benefits of using AI in this are good for humanity worldwide. Along with the industrial sector, using AI in the health, transportation and financial sectors is proving beneficial. But Hill realised that if such chatbot software based on AI increases, big problems may arise in front of the countries’ security. MP Hill warned that AI could increase the number of unemployed and be used for cyber-attacks and propaganda.

Furthermore, Hill cited that to prevent the use of this software based on AR and to avoid the threat to national security, there is a need to prepare a white paper in this regard. In this, Julian Hill called for the need to highlight the benefits and risks of AI and work on them.
