Analysts demand US to increase defence expenditure up to $1 trillion -

Washington: Analyst Rich Larry has claimed that against the background of the increasing Chinese threat and the Russia-Ukraine war, the United States should increase its defence expenditure budget to $1 trillion. Larry said the United States should have the capability to defend both the European and Asian fronts simultaneously, citing the Russia-Ukraine war. The US analyst advised that the United States should take the lead in the army, navy, air force, the space sector, and the technologies in the cyber sector, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and directed energy.

A few days ago, China announced an increase of more than 7% in defence expenditure. Following this increase, the Chinese defence expenditure will reach $230 billion. China is increasing its defence expenditure by more than 6% every year. Based on this increase, the Chinese navy attained the feat of being the biggest navy globally, surpassing the US navy. In his extensive article, Larry has pointed out that, on the other hand, China has taken the lead on the United States even in hypersonic missiles, space weapons, and lasers sectors.

At the same time, Russia also is making a substantial increase in its defence capabilities and the Russian forces have caused massive destruction during the Ukraine attack. While mentioning this increase in the defence capabilities of China and Russia, Larry warned that the United States might have to fight simultaneously on both fronts. Larry pointed out that while increasing the defence capabilities in the future, deployments on both European and Asian fronts have to be considered.

He has noted later in the article that there has to be a massive increase in the weapons arsenal if deployments must be made on both fronts. ‘The US navy should take the number of warships in its fleet to 500. There is a need to increase the number of Long-range High Precision Missiles in the defence forces. Larry has pointed out in the article that steps should be taken to modernise the nuclear forces, new stealth fighter jets and new divisions of tanks.

The current US defence expenditure is $770 billion. Larry claimed that it should reach $800 billion next year. After that, the provision for defence expenditure should be taken to $1 trillion. While analysts like Larry are demanding an increase of nearly $225 billion in the US defence expenditure, a different talk has started in the United States and the rest of the world. Accusations are being made that the military-industrial complex, which means the weapons manufacturing companies in the United States are profiteering by sparking conflicts and wars worldwide. US leaders have claimed that these groups are instrumental in sparking the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In this scenario, the demand made by Larry becomes noteworthy.
