On Monday, they visited the Israeli parliament and the Yad Vashem, a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust who faced genocide perpetrated by Hitler during the second world war. The visit of the UAE officials to both these locations is quite significant.

During his visit to the Israeli parliament, Nuaimi underlined the importance of the Abraham Accord signed between Israel and UAE in 2020. He emphasised that Abraham Accord records should not be merely on paper. But it needs to be looked at from a holistic view and that the agreement is not signed for and not limited to diplomatic, security and defence cooperation.

Nuaimi, during his speech at the Israeli parliament, said, ‘Few people had raised questions over the continuity of the Abraham Accord following the conflict between Israel and Hamas last year. However, we have not signed the agreement to withdraw from it. We have signed the agreement for cooperation and mutual progress. This agreement is not for repeating history, but to create history.’

Ram Ben Barak, Chief of the foreign and security committee of the Israeli parliament, also said that UAE is a neighbour and a friend of Israel. Barak said that the Abraham Accord is based not only on one issue but also on extending cooperation with the UAE in all aspects.

Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that the United States and Iran are very close to signing the nuclear deal. With this background, the collaboration between Israel and UAE seems to be strengthening for a few days. Although the Abraham records are essentially an agreement for cooperation, it has strategic importance in parallel. As per analysts, the Abraham Accord is a collaborative and united front of Israel and the Middle East against Iran, which is on the verge of possessing nuclear weapons. Therefore, Iran is threatening dire consequences for the countries joining the Abraham Accord. Iran had threatened the UAE after it agreed to sign the Abraham Accord.

Against this background, the visit of the UAE Federal National Council Chief and the statements made by him in this context is extremely significant and are drawing attention. A few days ago, the Israeli President announced that his country was willing to provide all the defence cooperation required by the UAE. Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister completed his historic visit to UAE.
