New Delhi: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) tested an advanced version of the Pinaka Rocket System. The DRDO officials informed that six missiles were launched and all the rockets hit the designated target with precision and fulfilled all the criteria. This is the second test of Pinaka Rockets in the last two months. Pinaka Rockets have been deployed on the border because of the tension with China and Pakistan.
The DRDO successfully tested the Pinaka Rockets at the Chandipur base in Odisha on Wednesday morning. DRDO said that this advanced version, developed by the DRDO, will replace the Pinaka MK-1 rockets. The rocket was developed in the Pune facility of the DRDO. Pinaka MK-1 had a strike range of 40 kilometres. But the advanced version has a strike range of 60 kilometres.
India has conducted 13 missile tests in the last two months. A few days ago, reports had been received that India will be mass-producing Pinaka Rockets and the process has already been started. An agreement worth ₹25.8 billion also was singed for purchase of Six Pinaka Regiments of Pinaka Rocket launchers with Indian companies.
