Uttarakhand shares its border with ‘Tibet’ and Nepal: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to China

Dehradun: – As China intensifies its anti-India activities, India’s defence minister has issued a stern warning to China. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India’s Uttarakhand borders Nepal and Tibet. What is now referred to as the India-China border or LAC is the border between India and Tibet. After China illegally occupied Tibet, it became the Indo-China border; the Tibetan organizations in India often reminded of this. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has indirectly mentioned this and made China aware that India can change its policy towards Tibet.

The Defence Minister spoke at the foundation stone laying ceremony of ‘Sainya Dham’ being developed at Dehradun. Speaking on occasion, Rajnath Singh made a special mention of Nepal. ‘Some forces are trying to sour India-Nepal relations. But under no circumstances it will be allowed to happen.’ he said. For the past few years, China has been trying to increase its influence in Nepal and bring an anti-India government to power in the country. China also tried targeting India, using some Nepali leaders. But now, the plot has backfired on China, and Nepal’s current government is taking the initiative to establish better cooperation with India.

Against this background, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has warned that forces trying to increase hostility between India and Nepal will not succeed. At the same time, he said that India’s Uttarakhand border is connected to Nepal and Tibet, adding that Indians have an emotional connection with Tibet.

Speaking about Tibet, Rajnath Singh did not mention China. Until now, India has officially recognized Tibet as part of China. But the Defence Minister said that as China intensifies its anti-India activities, India may reconsider its policy. At the same time, the defence minister hinted that India would not pay any heed to the Chinese aggression. ‘India has not tied the hands of its troops stationed on the border. The Indian Army faced the situation on the border some time ago with great courage and bravery. For this, I had given complete freedom to the army chief. They are convinced that the government will be standing with its troops in the event of an untoward incident.’ The Defence Minister claimed that the country was ready to face any situation.

‘Defence Chief General Bipin Rawat is not with us anymore. But his memories will remain in everyone’s heart. The main entrance to the Sainya Dham will be named after General Bipin Rawat,’ said Rajnath Singh. Meanwhile, China’s military operations in Tibet appear to have escalated sharply while India is issuing direct warnings to China. China’s People’s Liberation Army has reportedly conducted nuclear, chemical and biological warfare exercises in Tibet. This could not be confirmed. However, China had earlier organized war exercises to increase pressure on India. But despite this, India continued with an equivalent retaliation against China.
