Chaos in Afghanistan due to US will result in increased cooperation between Israel & Mideast countries, claims Israeli newspaper

Jerusalem: – No longer can we rely on the United States for Israel’s security. This lesson can be learned from the situation created by the chaos of the US military presence in Afghanistan. Afghanistan will make terrorist organisations like the Taliban stronger. At the same time, cooperation between Israel and the Gulf states participating in the Abraham agreement will increase, claimed Israel’s leading newspaper. According to Israeli newspapers, Saudi Arabia is expected to join the alliance shortly.

Last week, Taliban militants took control of Afghanistan. The Biden administration has been criticised for being responsible for the Taliban’s success. The Biden administration is being accused, from within the United States, of turning its back on Afghans. Former US leaders and senators have blamed Biden for sending the wrong signals to US allies and allies worldwide over the withdrawal from Afghanistan. The United Kingdom has criticised the US decision regarding Afghanistan. The former British intelligence chief and retired military officials have warned that the Taliban’s victory in Afghanistan will strengthen terrorist organisations worldwide. Military officials and analysts point out that the threat posed by Al-Qaeda and Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organisations in the Gulf and Africa and extremists in Europe under the influence of Al-Qaeda has increased.

Leading Israeli newspapers also drew attention to the current turmoil in Afghanistan. The Israeli newspaper said that the United States could no longer be depended upon because of the Biden administration’s decision on Afghanistan. The newspaper claimed that the Taliban’s victory had given strength to extremists, who posed a threat to the security of Morocco to Egypt, Jordan to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The newspaper cited information posted on social media four days ago by former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In 2013, the then-US Secretary of State, John Kerry, offered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a secret visit to Afghanistan. The United States had trained local gangs in Afghanistan to fight terrorism, and Israel had suggested using the same Afghan model in the West Bank. But at the time, he rejected Kerry’s offer and made the right decision, Netanyahu claimed in his post.

Netanyahu said the current situation in Afghanistan teaches that Israel cannot depend on anyone, not even the United States when it comes to national security. Former US President Barack Obama signed a nuclear deal with Iran in 2015 without taking Israel and other Gulf countries into confidence. This led to the establishment of cooperation between Israel and the Gulf countries, the Israeli newspaper pointed out.

Even now, the turmoil in Afghanistan poses a growing threat from the Taliban and other terrorist organisations. This will strengthen cooperation between Israel and the Gulf states, the Israeli newspaper claimed. Although Saudi Arabia has not yet established a formal collaboration with Israel, Israeli newspapers have reported that security cooperation between the two countries will likely be established shortly.

Meanwhile, International analysts have pointed out that Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar have not reacted to the situation in Afghanistan.
