US to make sanctions more comprehensive against Iran

Washington/Tehran: US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, announced that the scope of sanctions, related to the Iranian nuclear and missiles program and military, will be increased. The US announcement came after Iran destroyed the replica of a US warship, during the war exercises in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iranian supremo Ayatollah Khamenei clarified that Iran would not stop its nuclear and missiles program, fearing the US sanctions.

During the exercises, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards destroyed a replica of US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. At the same time, destroying the THAAD system, deployed by the United States for the security of its interests in the Middle East, also was practised. This Iranian exercise is considered to be a warning for the United States and its allies from the Middle East region. Within only a few hours of completion of the Iranian exercises, the United States gave indications of fresh sanctions.

The US Secretary of State clarified that the United States would be imposing sanctions against 22 entities linked to the Iranian nuclear-missiles programs. At the same time, the companies and people connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards also will face actions. At the same time, the United States has appealed to the United Nations to increase the period of sanctions against Iran. Iranian supremo Ayatollah Khamenei lashed out at the US sanctions and said that Iran would not be withdrawing from its nuclear program.

The Iranian supremo accused that the United States, along with economic pressures, is also conspiring to fuel protests by the Iranian people. At the same time, they had blamed that the pressure on the Iranian economy was increasing due to the US sanctions. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had said that the Iranian economy suffered a loss of $50 billion in the last year in view of the US sanctions.

Meanwhile, as per received information, after completion of the war exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, there was a blast at the military base of the Revolutionary Guards. An Israeli newspaper carried this report quoting locals. But Iranian media are saying that this was not a blast, but was the sound of firecrackers. Therefore, the mystery around the suspicious blasts in Iran is deepening.
