Trilateral strategic cooperation framework declared among India-France-UAE

New Delhi: Trilateral cooperation between India, France and the UAE has been established at a time when the Ukraine conflict, China’s moves in the Indo-Pacific region and other geopolitical developments at the global level have gained momentum. The foreign ministers of the three countries had a phone discussion on Saturday and a final decision was taken on the outline of this trilateral strategic cooperation. After this, a joint statement was presented and an action plan for strategic cooperation was announced in all three countries. The three countries will also strengthen cooperation in the defence and nuclear energy sectors and increase their partnership on the economic and technological fronts.

Before that, in July, for the first time, these countries had announced that they would establish trilateral cooperation. In the last few months, geopolitical events have been happening worldwide rapidly. Due to this, many groups are being formed and a new trilateral group, India-France-UAE, came into existence last year.

The three countries have established this trilateral cooperation keeping in mind their common interests. External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan held phone discussions on Saturday to finalize and implement the action plan for this trilateral cooperation. External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar, announced this information on social media. The three countries will strengthen cooperation at various levels in various fields.

Moreover, India-UAE, UAE-France, and India-France bilateral cooperation are already strong. Now, these countries are enhancing their strategic partnership through trilateral cooperation. Trilateral cooperation will be enhanced, especially in the defence and nuclear energy sectors. It has been decided to increase cooperation between the defence forces of the three countries at various levels. Also, the three countries have agreed to work together in food security, a ‘circular economy’. Trilateral cooperation on technology, energy and climate change will also be strengthened.

Besides, India-France-UAE will also work together in this field after recognizing the risk of future epidemics. Experts repeatedly warn that more terrible epidemics than Corona will come in the future. There have already been allegations that this was part of biological warfare regarding the Coronavirus. Also, experts repeatedly say that the danger of such biological war is possible in the future. Against this background, the decision in the Action Plan of the three countries to establish cooperation to deal with the threat of future disasters becomes important.
