Situation at the India-China border could become dangerous – Indian MEA S JaishankarWhile interacting with the media in Bangalore, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar clarified that the relations between India and China are not smooth. India had taken the initiative to de-escalate the tension on the LAC in Ladakh. For this, 15 rounds of talks have been held between the two countries so far. The talks were successful to an extent. But still, the Chinese army has not completely withdrawn from the LAC of Ladakh. Jaishankar made it clear that unless China fully withdraws from the region as per India’s demand, relations between the two countries will not be smooth.

Jaishankar further said that in the future, if China carries out activities that disturb the harmony and peace on the border, the tension between the two countries may increase and a terrible situation may arise. He cited what he had said in 2020 and 2021. Even today, the relations between India and China are not at normal, MEA said. Until the situation on the border does not return to normal, relations between India and China will not return to normal. The Government of India has taken a firm stand in this regard and the country’s defence forces have implemented the policy on the border.

The External Affairs Minister explained that India is discussing with China to prevent the situation on the Chinese border from escalating. Meanwhile, China has consistently said that India and China can establish cooperation with each other even while the border dispute continues. For this, Chinese leaders are trying to persuade India and the Chinese Foreign Minister had also visited India with this demand. But India sternly rejected this demand made by China. India’s main demand is that if cooperation with India is desired, China should first take steps to reduce tension on the LAC in Ladakh. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had warned that China could not expect cooperation from India unless this demand is fulfilled.

Even now, Indian External Affairs Minister is constantly pointing this out to China. Also, MEA Jaishankar blamed India’s integrity and sovereignty being violated due to the infrastructure project implemented by China in cooperation with Pakistan. S Jaishankar objected to this project in China and Pakistan in solid words that the CPEC project between China and Pakistan passes through ‘Pakistani Occupied Kashmir’, which is an integral part of India. The fact that a third country is implementing a project on the Indian land illegally occupied by another country cannot be tolerated.

This Chinese project passing through Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is not only related to infrastructure development. Whereas, this project has great strategic importance. That is why China invested heavily in an unstable country like Pakistan without considering the feasibility of this project. Also, China is appealing to other countries to participate in this project to give legitimacy to this project. It is claimed that China is vying to get Saudi Arabia to invest in the project in particular. But Saudi has not yet responded to the Chinese efforts. No other country has expressed interest in the project.
