latest technologyA few hours ago, the United States and European countries announced sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine issue. Some people believe that these sanctions could harm the India-Russia cooperation. This is the reaction received from the Russian diplomat in the matter.

Russia is a traditional friend of India. In contrast, India has established strategic partnerships with the United States in the last few years. The Biden administration expects India to support the US stand on the Ukraine issue in the current situation.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken even tried to pressurise India over the issue. But India has adopted a neutral stand on this issue in the United Nations meeting. Last week, India decided to abstain from the meeting instead of voting in anybody’s favour.

Moreover, Russia has welcomed the Indian stance. Babushkin has expressed confidence that even with the US and European sanctions against Russia, there will be no effect on the India-Russia cooperation. Babushkin said that the India-Russia cooperation would scale new heights, as decided in the Two-Plus-Two meeting held between the two countries in December last year.

Meanwhile, the United States has announced stringent sanctions against Russia, and the European countries also are with the United States on the issue. In this scenario, India will have the challenging task of maintaining friendly relations with the European countries while continuing with Russian cooperation. India has made preparations for this and has indicated that the balance of the Indian foreign policy will not be disturbed.
