Russian Space Agency Chief warns to destroy Space cooperation alongside International Space Station if sanctions against Russia are not withdrawn

Moscow/Washington: – The western countries have imposed harsh sanctions against Russia to finish its economy to bring the country to its knees. Dmitry Rogozin, head of Russian space agency Roscosmos issued a stern warning that if these sanctions are not withdrawn, Russia will stop all cooperation with the western countries in the space sector.

Moreover, Western countries have imposed harsh sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the Ukraine war. US President Joe Biden has warned that efforts will be made to end the Russian capabilities in space. Therefore, the possibility that the relations between Russia and Western countries in the space sector are severely affected is predicted. Intense reactions have been received from Russia over the stand of the western countries and Russia also has decided to stop the cooperation.

In the last month, Russia stopped the supply of RD-180 engines used by the United States for satellite launches. Following that, Russia withdrew from the joint space project with Germany and announced that satellites of the British company OneWeb would not be launched. Russia has also announced the cancellation of the agreement with the European Space Agency. Following that, Rogozin has warned to stop the cooperation with the International Space Station.

Dmitry Rogozin, head of Russian space agency Roscosmos warned that Russia would continue to cooperate in the joint space projects only if the western countries withdrew the illegal sanctions unconditionally. Rogozin said that the information regarding the ongoing joint space projects being worked on with the United States, Canada, Japan and European Union would be given to the Russian leadership and decisions would be taken.

It is being said that the lifespan of the International Space Station operational today is till 2030. But Russia has assured cooperation only till 2024 and is has been claimed that Russia will be working on building an independent space station after that.
