Hours before the attack, the US claimed to have killed 40 Al-Shabaab terrorists in airstrikes in Somalia. It seems that Al- Shabaab has warned the US along with Somalia by carrying out this attack. Besides, it has become noteworthy that Al- Shabaab attacked while US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was on a tour of African countries.

Besides, terrorists blasted the first bomb in front of the administrative residence of the local mayor. Afterwards, the terrorists opened fire, taking advantage of the commotion. Government agencies had informed that five people were killed in this. But according to the hospital authorities, 11 people were killed, and more than 25 others were injured in this terrorist attack.

This is the second attack by Al-Shabaab in Somalia in just four days. Last week, Al-Shabaab carried out triple bombings in two towns in Hirshabelle State, a province of Somalia. Besides, one of the attacks had been conducted to target Djibouti soldiers from the African Union peace-keeping squad stationed here. At least 15 people were killed in this triple-bomb blast. Just a few hours before the explosion, Somalia’s military launched an attack on an area which Al-Shabaab controlled. Moreover, Al-Shabaab had brought to light that it retaliated by conducting triple blasts.

The US had claimed to have killed at least 40 Al-Shabaab terrorists in this operation in Galkad, which was only 280 kilometres from the capital Mogadishu. AFRICOM (United States Africa Command) had taken this action. Furthermore, AFRICOM explained that they took action following a complaint by the Somalia government to US President Joe Biden.

The President of Somalia called for action against terrorism in a meeting with Biden last year. A few months after this, US President Biden deployed 500 US troops to Somalia. After this, the AFRICOM launched attacks on Al-Shabaab. But within the next 24 hours, Al-Shabaab responded by targeting a government building in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. With this, Al-Shabaab has warned the US along with the Somalian government.
