Huston: International health expert Dr Peter Hotez commended India, saying that India is taking a compassionate stand with many countries of the world and supplying the Corona vaccine and is rescuing the world from the Coronavirus pandemic. Dr Hotez also noted that the international community could not ignore this huge Indian contribution. Gita Gopinath, Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund, also showered praise on India, saying that the Indian performance stands out compared to the other countries.
Dr Hotez, Dean of the National Institute of tropical diseases in the United States, is known to be an international expert on vaccination. He praised India while speaking at a webinar. India has developed two vaccines for Coronavirus. Even the developed countries could not attain comparable success. Therefore, the Indian identity as the pharmacy of the world has become stronger. Hotez said that India had given a precious gift to the world by developing two vaccines. Hotez said that India has collaborated with institutions worldwide to develop these vaccines and insisted that this Indian contribution cannot be ignored.
Gita Gopinath, Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund, also praised the Indian stand on vaccination. Gita Gopinath claimed that India’s policy regarding vaccination is more effective than the world and is clearly standing out. Before this, the British Prime Minister also showered praise generously on India for developing the vaccine for Coronavirus. India has supplied nearly 5.5 million doses of the vaccine to 62 countries in the world. These even include poor and underdeveloped countries. The developed countries had refused to supply vaccines to these countries. Refusing to supply the vaccines to a country like Australia, the European countries had said that the domestic requirements would be fulfilled first. While there are disputes over the vaccine for Coronavirus, India’s policy is commendable, and confidence is being expressed that this will win huge political goodwill with these gestures.
