India assured UN to contribute in peace and prosperity of Middle East through I2U2

United Nations: India has assured, ‘India too has interests in the peace and prosperity of Middle East, meaning the Gulf sector. Therefore, India will contribute to the energy security, food security and economic progress of the Gulf sector through the medium of the newly formed I2U2.’ Indian diplomat R Ravindra underlined the importance of the I2U2 group formed by India, Israel, the United States and the United Arab Emirates during his address at the United Nations. R Ravindra clarified that at the same time, India is also concerned about the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

India will contribute to the Gulf sector through I2U2, India assures UNThe Indian diplomat spoke during the open discussions on the topic ‘Question of Palestine’ in the United Nations. R Ravindra expressed concerns over the violence between Israel and Palestine. Ravindra demanded that this violence must stop immediately and there should be direct talks between Israel and Palestine. The Indian diplomat expressed confidence, ‘These talks have to be held within the framework of international regulations. The talks should properly address the ambition of a separate state for the Palestinian population and Israel’s security concerns. The question can be resolved through negotiations.’

R Ravindra added that India would fully support these talks between Israel and Palestine. Ravindra also pointed out that there are primary Indian interests in peace and prosperity in the Gulf countries. Ravindra said that India would contribute to economic development along with energy and food security of the Gulf and the South Asian sectors through the medium of newly formed I2U2 having the participation of India, Israel, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, the first virtual meeting of I2U2 was held on the 14th of July. Prime Minister Modi had said that while there is an influence of uncertainty on the international level and challenges are being posed by the problems arising out of it, this unique I2U2 group will become an exemplary model for cooperation. It was announced that the I2U2 members would make joint investments in six important sectors. Ravindra reminded that these include water, energy, transportation, space, health and food security.

Meanwhile, the former National Security Advisor (NSA) of Israel had expressed confidence that the inclusion of India in the I2U2 group would be a game changer. The former Israeli NSA had said that the Gulf countries would be able to cooperate better with Israel under Indian influence. The inclusion of India in the group only shows the increasing Indian influence. Indian analysts are confident that the Indian impact in the Gulf sector will increase because of the participation in I2U2.
