During his four-day visit to the United States, Jaishankar held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Jaishankar also held discussions with senior members of the US Congress and dignitaries from the American industry. After this, underlining the importance of India’s cooperation with the United States, Jaishankar said that bilateral cooperation was not limited to protecting each other’s interests and had a very positive impact on the world. Nowadays, the world’s countries are closely connected and depend on each other to a great extent. Jaishankar said that no single country can solve all the problems in such a world, but alliances of countries can work effectively.

Jaishankar pointed out that cooperation between democratic countries like India and the United States can solve many problems in such a situation. Also, in the present stressful times, India can act as a bridge and reduce the global economy’s risks. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar pointed out that India can also prevent the polarisation of the world that has started politically. However, during his visit, Jaishankar also indicated that India needs to have a legitimate place at the international level and only then will India perform its role more effectively. ‘We had more than a hundred meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Because it was the demand of the representatives of other countries and these countries have realized that India can solve their problems by influencing the big countries,’ Jaishankar said.

‘If India wants permanent membership of the UN Security Council, reforms will have to be implemented. India is aware that this is not an easy process. But this does not mean that this process should never be started,’ Jaishankar explained the need to start the process in clear terms.
