India slams Turkey for raising Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly

New York: – India delivered a tight slap across the face of Turkey that raised the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly. Turkish President Recep Erdogan demanded that the Kashmir issue be resolved within the framework of the UN resolutions. Even in the past, the Turkish President had attempted to corner India by supporting Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. But at this time, Indian MEA S Jaishankar reminded Turkey that it is bound to honour the resolution passed by the UN General Assembly regarding Cyprus.

In his speech at the UN General Assembly, Erdogan had said that the Kashmir issue, which has been unresolved for the last 74 years, should be resolved within the framework of the UN resolutions. Even last year, the Turkish President had raised the Kashmir issue while addressing the General Assembly. President Erdogan had made statements inciting India, even during his Pakistan visit. It was exposed that President Erdogan was trying to fulfil his ambitions by appeasing Pakistan.

President Erdogan has started dreaming of leading the Islamic world. He has started interfering in every issue in the world, from Palestine to Kashmir. President Erdogan is desperately trying to challenge Saudi Arabia and the other Arab Gulf countries, who lead the Islamic world. He is using Pakistan for this purpose. Although Erdogan succeeded in gaining popularity in Pakistan with his statements against India in the Kashmir issue, there have been repercussions and they have affected relations between India and Turkey.

The Indian cooperation with Cyprus and Greece, which Turkey is challenging, is increasing. Against the background of the UN General Assembly, Indian MEA S Jaishankar met the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. In 1974, Turkey had illegally taken over a certain part in north Cyprus, taking advantage of the civil war raging in Cyprus. The United Nations had passed a resolution against it. MEA Jaishankar reminded Turkey regarding the resolution. MEA Jaishankar made a sarcastic remark that the concerned parties should abide by the resolution, avoiding taking any names.

At the same time, the Indian MEA clarified that India would be taking the initiative to strengthen economic ties with Cyprus. After the Turkish President raised the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly, the Indian MEA seemingly reprimanded the Turkish President, once again, with these statements. The Indian foreign ministry had criticised that the statements made by the Turkish President regarding Kashmir during his Pakistan visit in the last year only show his ignorance and he has supported Pakistani terrorism with these statements.
