Cyber cell of Delhi police busts ‘Job Racket’

New Delhi: – The cyber cell of the Delhi police has exposed a racket extorting millions of Rupees from aspiring candidates showing the dreams of a government job. The police have arrested five people, including the mastermind. It has been exposed that the racket collected Rs. 10.9 million as registration charges, through a fake website, created in the name of the health ministry. The Delhi police claimed that this is the biggest racket exposed in history.

The fraud was exposed after receiving complaints from job aspirants. A fake website, Institute of Health and Public Welfare was created under the name of Health and Family Welfare ministry. More than 13,000 job openings were advertised on the website. Seeing the advertisements, a large number of job aspirants registered for the entrance exam.   

Thousands of youths were cheated through this website. Following the complaints lodged by these youth, the police received information that the website was being operated from Hissar, in Haryana. Thereafter, all the members of the gang were arrested. Amandeep Khatkari, Surendra Singh, Sandeep, Ramdhari and Joginder Singh are the names of the accused. The mastermind of the scheme, Ramdhari, has an online exam centre for various government departments. Ramdhari created the website and started sending advertisements of openings, in the government departments, to the job aspirants, stealing the information from this centre.   

Sandip, who is a software engineer, created the website. 1.5 million youths registered for the exam. Even a bank account was opened for this purpose. Surendra Singh was operating the bank account. Amandeep was withdrawing the money deposited in the account by the youths, from an ATM in Hissar. Following the arrests, police seized three laptops, seven mobile phones and Rs. 4.9 million lying in the bank account.   

Amounts between Rs. 100 to Rs. 500 were being extorted from the youth, showing them the openings for the posts of an accountant, data entry operators, upper divisional clerk, lower divisional clerk, general nursing, multi-tasking staff, lab assistant, ambulance driver and driver. After the busting of the racket, police have appealed to the youth, to exhibit more caution while applying online for jobs.
