Beijing: The Russian navy has inducted the Poseidon underwater drone capable of generating 300 ft tsunami waves which can destroy entire cities. By calling them the Doomsday drones, the media is trying to describe their destruction capabilities. According to claims made by Chinese scientists, China plans to develop an enhanced version of Russian nuclear drone torpedoes, which could be deployed in the Pacific Ocean.
Chinese scientists claim to have completed the design of a new compact and less expensive nuclear-powered torpedo to be commissioned on submarines capable of launching fearsome swarms of devastating torpedoes across the entire Pacific Ocean. Information related to this was published in the China Shipbuilding Industrial Corporation journal. A Hong Kong-based daily claimed that Chinese researchers are developing a smaller version of the Russian Poseidon drone.
Russian-made Poseidon was the world’s first nuclear-propelled underwater torpedo drone. The massive Russian submarine, the Belgorod, and the Poseidon drones were inducted into the Russian navy a few days back.
Typhoon-type submarines of Russia were the largest in the world. However, with 184 meters in length, Belgorod will be the world’s biggest submarine, capable of carrying 6 Poseidon drones.
The size of the Belgorod submarine and Poseidon drone was a topic of discussion amongst the Western countries. The Doomsday drone, with a strike range of about 1,000 kilometres, can carry megatons of a nuclear warhead. Therefore, the Russian government hailed Poseidon as a game changer in war. The autonomous designed drone can easily cross the North Atlantic region and is capable of submerging and destroying big coastal cities by generating multiple tsunami waves of 300 ft in height.
US military analysts denote that Russia has developed these drones to target US coastlines by bypassing the US missile defence systems. There were reports that this Russian drone would be the game changer. China is also planning to make a compact version of the Poseidon drones. The Chinese scientists have claimed that their version of the Poseidon drone would be commissioned on any normal-sized submarine which can create torpedo swarm attacks in the Pacific Ocean.
Meanwhile, as Russia’s Poseidon drone already posed a challenge to the US and NATO, now China will be adding to the challenge by producing a Poseidon drone like Russia.
