China criticises G7 for raising Taiwan, Hongkong, Tibet and Xinjiang issues

Beijing: – G7, the organisation of the developed countries, demanded that China should immediately stop the aggressive actions against Taiwan and atrocities against the Uyghur population in the Xinjiang province. An expected harsh reaction has been received from China over this. China has retaliated that the G7 countries should not deploy their bomber planes and destroyers near the borders of other countries and stop imposing sanctions against others.

The industrially advanced G7 countries United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan published a statement expressing concerns over the hegemonic Chinese activities. The statement raises the issue of the atrocities showered on the Uyghur population in China’s Xinjiang province. At the same time, G7 has raised serious questions over the Chinese policies regarding Hongkong and Taiwan. The statement also notes that the Chinese hegemonic activities have reached dangerous levels in the East and South China Seas. The G7 has demanded in the statement that China should give up its policy of issuing threats, dangerous activities and challenging others. The G7 has also appealed that China should allow inspection by neutral observers in Xinjiang and Tibet.

As expected, a vitriolic reaction has been received from China. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian protested the statement issued by the G7. Lijian warned that the Chinese policies regarding Hongkong and Taiwan are clear and there will be no changes in the policies. Moreover, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman retorted that these G7 countries advising China should stop the deployment of their bombers and destroyers near the borders of other countries. Lijian also demanded that the G7 should stop imposing sanctions against others.

Meanwhile, the focus of the United States and other western countries is on the Ukraine war. International analysts are consistently warning that China will take advantage of the situation to launch an attack on Taiwan. China has added to the international community’s concerns by increasing the intensity of intrusions into Taiwanese airspace. All this has been reflected in the G7 statement pinpointing the aggressive Chinese activities. China, furious over the mention of all sensitive issues like Xinjiang, Tibet, Hongkong and Taiwan by the G7, seems to have expressed its anger by showering criticism on the G7.
