Baghdad: In the last 24 hours, heavy rocket attacks occurred on two sensitive places in Iraq. As Iraq’s presidential election process was underway, nine rockets fell in the highly protected Green Zone area. Before that, there were eight rocket attacks on the natural gas plant in the Kurdistan province of Iraq. Media in Iraq are claiming that there is a connection between these two attacks.

Moreover, on Wednesday, eight rockets attacked the Khor Mor natural gas plant in the Kurdistan province of Iraq. It is reported that the project has suffered significant damage. This is the fifth attack on the project in the last ten months. It was revealed that Iranian-made Katyusha rockets were used in the attack on the project in Kurdistan province on Wednesday night.

Iran has been accusing Kurdish rebels of being responsible for riots that erupted against the regime in Iran since September 16. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have launched a crackdown in their country’s Kurdish-majority Khuzestan province. Iran has also stepped up its rocket attacks in Iraq’s Kurdistan region over the past three weeks, increasing military deployments near the border with Iraq.

But US senators are accusing Iraq’s fuel minister of being pro-Iran and anti-Kurdish.
