Baku/Yerevan: Azerbaijani analysts have said that the visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Armenia and her statements are obstacles to peace in the Caucasus region. Pelosi’s visit and statements of US assistance drew strong reactions from Azerbaijan and Turkey. Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry accused Pelosi’s remarks of being misleading. The Vice President of Turkey, Fuat Oktay, has demanded that it be clarified whether the speaker’s statements are the official position of the United States. Meanwhile, on Sunday, demonstrations were reportedly held in Armenia to demand the withdrawal from the Russia-backed ‘Collective Security Treaty Organisation-CSTO’ group.
