F-22 Raptors, B-2 bombers, F-35B stealth fighters and a large fleet of F-15, F-16, F-18 aircraft of the US Air Force participated in this.

The Red Flag exercise was based on long-range target engagement and mutual coordination between the air forces of the three countries, informed Jared J Hutchinson, a US Air Force senior officer.

This drill was not against any country, Colonel Hutchinson said. But we are doing this exercise after studying the increasing challenges from China, added Colonel Hutchinson. If the issue of Taiwan’s security arises in the near future, the United States will take a stand against China.

In such a situation, how the British KC-2 Voyager aircraft will provide fuel to the US fighter jets in long-range air missions was also practised.

Additionally, the pilots of all three countries have also studied each other’s planes. This kind of study has been included in this practice to be well prepared to face the said situation in future. An international news agency gave this information.

At the same time, the practice was carried out to engage the air security system with enemy fighter planes. This exercise is also based on the situation if the enemy country intrudes into the territory of the allied country, how the fighter planes can be brought to the aid of the concerned allied country, informed Commander of UK’s Air Mobility Force, Commodore John Lyle.

Meanwhile, senior US, UK and Australian Air Force officials refrained from quoting China directly. However, there are clear indications that the exercise is to prevent China’s invasion of Taiwan.
