President Xi may attack Taiwan to use it as pretext for suppressing domestic discontent, claims British tabloid

London: – The Coronavirus outbreak, the slowing growth rate and the escalating energy crisis have triggered discontent among Chinese people against President Jinping. President Jinping could launch an attack on Taiwan to divert Chinese people’s attention, same as the Crimean model used by the Russian President in 2014, claimed a leading British newspaper. The intrusion of 150 Chinese fighter jets into the Taiwanese in the past few days and subsequent threats made by Jinping expose the Chinese intentions.

In 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s domestic popularity plummeted. The Russian President provided military assistance to separatists in Ukraine and annexed Crimea to Russia. President Putin’s popularity in Russia reached its peak following this. It was claimed that Putin’s leadership would not be challenged for at least the next ten years.

Currently, Chinese President Jinping is also facing domestic discontent. The Coronavirus outbreak has angered the Chinese people and some Communist Party leaders regarding Jinping’s leadership. Jinping’s economic policies are hitting the Chinese economy hard. It has also been revealed that China has misused international financial institutions to attract global investors. Even after these efforts, international companies are turning their backs on China. International analysts claim that the Chinese people are facing an unemployment crisis as foreign companies have moved their factories to other countries. This is harming the Chinese economy.

The British newspaper claimed that President Jinping would attack Taiwan and try to control it to quell domestic discontent in this scenario. Jinping’s ambition is to replace the photograph of Mao Zedong at the Tiananmen Gate with his own. Jinping thinks that after Taiwan’s merger with China, his popularity will also increase.

The Chinese President feels that it will be easier for him to take over Taiwan, the same as the Russian takeover of Crimea. This is because the world’s leading countries have refrained from recognising Taiwan, respecting the Chinese ‘One China Policy’. Therefore, Jinping feels that it will be easy to swallow Taiwan. That is why the British newspaper warned Taiwan that the Chinese threat is on the rise.
