Heat Wave claims 600 in US and Canada: Lytton village engulfed in forest fire

The forest fire started because the heatwave has engulfed more than 90% of the Lytton Village in Canada. Whereas more than 100 deaths have been reported from the States of Oregon and Washington in the United States and the local agencies expressed fears that the number of casualties may increase.

There has been a massive increase in temperatures due to the Heat Dome, which developed in the Pacific Northwest sector. Temperatures of 40oc and above have been reported from the north-western United States and Western Canada and this is considered the record for this region.

The health agencies informed that two-thirds of the dead are senior citizens. Intense forest fires have started in some parts because of the rising temperatures. More than 90% of the Lytton Village is said to have been burned down in the fires. The locals informed that the situation in the city on Wednesday was like a war zone. There were fires in Villages other than Lytton, and the residents are forced to move.

It is being said that the intensity of the heatwave is observed to be increasing in the US states of Oregon and Washington. More than 80 people have died in the wave over the last few days. It is said that 45 deaths out of these are from Multnomah County alone. 20 deaths have been reported even from the State of Washington, and it is feared that the numbers will increase further.
