3 Chinese citizens killed in a suicide attack in Karachi, Pakistan; China

Islamabad: Four people were killed in a suicide bomb attack in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Tuesday. The dead include three Chinese citizens. Rebel organisation Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) accepted the responsibility for the attack. China has given an angry reaction to the attack targeting its citizens. China has demanded that the Pakistan government and security agencies take all the necessary measures and take strict action against the attack’s masterminds.

The attack was carried out on the university campus in Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan. A female suicide bomber in the car entered the university campus. The explosion triggered by her killed one Pakistani and three Chinese citizens. The three Chinese citizens worked in the Confucius Institute on the university campus. The rebel organisation BLA accepted the responsibility for the suicide attack on the Karachi University campus. BLA also announced that this was the first time a female from the organisation carried out a suicide attack.

The organisation BLA is fighting with the Pakistani agencies for Balochistan and the rights of Balochistan. BLA and other Baloch organisations are accusing Pakistan of illegally occupying Balochistan and looting the region. At the same time, Pakistan has declared BLA and other Baloch organisations as terrorist organisations. The Pakistan military had initiated action against these Baloch organisations. But Pakistan is accusing that there has been an increase in the Baloch attacks on the Pakistan military since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

China expressed annoyance over this attack in Karachi. The Chinese embassy in Pakistan denounced the attack in harsh words. An appeal was also made to the Chinese citizens in Pakistan not to leave their homes. The Chinese embassy lashed out that Pakistan agencies on every level should take realistic measures for the security of Chinese citizens. The Chinese embassy demanded that there should be a thorough investigation into the blast and strong action should be taken against the masterminds. It is criticised that Confucius Institute is a propaganda front for the Chinese Communist regime.
