US-China military conflict may spark over the issue of Taiwanese independence, warns Chinese Ambassador to US

Washington – Qin Gang, the Chinese Ambassador to the United States, warned that Taiwan has become the most volatile issue between the United States and China. If Taiwan, which has grown confident due to US support, starts a journey towards its independence, it will spark a military conflict between China and the United States. A few hours ago, US Vice President Kamala Harris met Taiwanese Vice President William Lai. But before this, the bill Arm Taiwan Act was presented in the US Congress to enhance Taiwanese defence preparedness. It is claimed that China has issued this warning against this background.

Gang accused the United States is encouraging Taiwanese independence. The Chinese Ambassador threatened that if the Taiwanese leaders, who have gotten confident due to the US support, remain adamant on the country’s independence and initiate steps in that direction, the United States will be held responsible and a conflict will be sparked.

While reacting to this, the US defence department said that the United States is committed to the One China Policy. At the same time, the US defence department stated that it was bound even by the cooperation agreement with Taiwan. The Pentagon spokesman said ‘The United States will provide all the necessary assistance to Taiwan to develop self-defence capabilities. Also, the United States can fight any external power threatening the security of the Taiwanese population.’

China claims that Taiwan is its sovereign territory. China had warned that if the democratic groups in Taiwan continue to incite China and cross their limits, China will not be left with any option other than decisive action. At the same time, China has a clear stand that all the countries cooperating with China should respect the One China Policy and not keep any diplomatic or military cooperation with Taiwan. But disregarding this Chinese arrogance, the US defence department is continuing military cooperation with Taiwan.

Agitated with this defiance, China has threatened the United States with military action, even in the past. Only a few days ago, the Chinese mouthpiece ‘Global Times’ had threatened that if the United States sent its soldiers for the security of Taiwan, they would be shot. The United States incited China by holding huge war exercises with aircraft carriers and destroyers near the Taiwanese marine region.

The US lawmakers are accusing that the priority of the Chinese communist regime is the use of military might for the annexation of Taiwan. In the last week, the bill presented in the US Congress has a provision for defence assistance to Taiwan worth $3 billion per annum.

Meanwhile, analysts from the US think tanks are claiming that if a war is sparked following the Chinese attack on Taiwan, there won’t be any possibility of an early result. Instead, it will be a long-drawn war. The analysts at the Brookings Institute claimed that the United States and its allies would enter the fray, but there would be no decisive victory.
