UAE will not depend on a single country for security - senior UAE officials issue stern warningFour days ago, the US intelligence agency had prepared a report that foreign powers were interfering in US politics. UAE was accused of political interference in the report of the ‘National Intelligence Council’ of the United States to avoid criticism on UAE, which has a royal system and a restricted social system from the US point of view. The report also alleged that the UAE had spent billions of dollars to influence research by the US to think tanks and universities.

Moreover, US media had warned that the allegations made by the intelligence department against the UAE, which is one of the closest partners of the United States, would strain relations between the two countries. An announcement by senior UAE diplomats within hours of the report’s release suggests a rift with the United States. Speaking at the seminar ‘Emirates Policy Centre Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate’, Anwar Gargash, political advisor to the President of the UAE, clarified that his country will reduce its dependence on the United States.

Moreover, Gargash said that King Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has set some policies for the UAE. Sheikh Mohammed suggested increasing cooperation with other countries on issues such as climate change, water, and food security, which are very important for the UAE. Gargash made a significant statement that the UAE will not be safe if it depends on a single country. Thus, the UAE has started discussions with different countries regarding security. At the same time, UAE will not risk its sovereignty for any other country.’

Furthermore, Gargash clarified in this seminar that the polarization of the whole world is going on and the tension between the world superpowers is increasing. As a medium-sized power, the foreign policy of the UAE will be carefully planned. Therefore, the UAE will use diplomacy quietly, avoiding open criticism on any issue. UAE is aware that sometimes it may be necessary to establish cooperation with unpleasant persons.

Meanwhile, relations between the United States and the UAE have been strained over Iran’s nuclear program, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, human rights and other issues in recent months. The UAE has questioned the Biden administration’s intentions behind curbing arms exports. Therefore, disbelief is expressed in the Biden administration, saying that given this, UAE will not rely on any one country for its security in the future. For this, by increasing cooperation with countries like Israel, China and India, UAE has also made preparations to establish cooperation with Russia. Anwar Gargash, the political adviser to the President of the UAE, is presenting the matter in diplomatic language.
