Future wars will be Hybrid Warfare, warns IAF Chief  

New Delhi: – Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram, warned that future wars would have a Hybrid Warfare nature and weapons from computer viruses to hypersonic missiles will be used in these wars. The IAF chief also claimed that the cyber sector and the use of information are the modern factors shaping the battlefield. The IAF Chief Vivek Ram also pointed out that the narrative prepared based on the information to disturb the enemy may deliver a massive jolt.

The IAF Chief pointed to the changing framework of the future war during a function organised by the ‘All India management Association’. The IAF Chief claimed that the Human race is getting connected in various ways. A cyberattack in the computer networks of the defence forces can destroy the command and control structures.’  

Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram pointed out that the enemy in the future war may not be a country or an organisation. He also claimed that the information regarding the origin and the perpetrators of cyberattacks in the DDOS category might never be known. The IAF chief warned that India could face cyberattacks on every possible front. India could be targeted on the fronts like Strangling on the economic level, attempts to isolate on the diplomatic front and Information Blackout. Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram pointed out that all this can happen even before the first bullet is fired or the first fighter jet crosses a country’s border. He also warned that the future wars will be Hybrid Warfare and will involve all the sectors.
