Eknath Shinde takes oath as new Maharashtra CM

Eknath ShindeMumbai: On Thursday evening, Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath to swear in Eknath Shinde as new Chief Minister and Devendra Fadnavis as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra in a function held in Raj Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both Shinde and Fadnavis.

Eknath Shinde takes oath as new Maharashtra CMUddhav Thackrey submitted his resignation as the Chief Minister to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday. After that, Shinde and Fadnavis met the Governor to stake the claim to form the government. Accordingly, the Governor administered the oath of post and secrecy to the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.

Eknath Shinde became the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Prime Minister Modi said that Shinde is a leader who has come from the grass-root level and has vast administrative experience. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in his congratulatory message on a social media post that Chief Minister Shinde will take Maharashtra to new heights. The Prime Minister said that the experience and skill of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would prove very important for this government.

Eknath Shinde, born in Satara, started his political career in Thane. Shinde, who became a corporator in the Thane Municipal Corporation in 1997, later became a Member of the Legislative Assembly for four terms. He has functioned as the Minister for urban development and public works department. After being sworn in, Eknath Shinde announced that the overall development of the state of Maharashtra was his sole objective. The new Chief Minister also announced that he would bring all the delayed projects back on track.
