China worst-hit by the biggest sandstorm in a decade

Beijing: The sandstorm from the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, has hit China at large; it has hugely affected the capital city Beijing alongside 12 other areas. This storm has killed six people in Mongolia and has displaced many others. Moreover, this sandstorm in China is the biggest one in the decade. The locals and press have reported that this has negatively impacted the air quality index in China.

Besides, yellow and orange colour smog can be seen in Beijing and other parts of the country. Moreover, the Chinese officials have warned that the streets, vehicles and buildings are not visible in haze and will not be for the next 24 hours.

The administration has also appealed to people to not step into the outdoor as a preventive measure to avoid breathing problems and related health conditions. Moreover, the storm has also affected Chinese flight facilities, so over 1000 flights have been cancelled. The citizens in Beijing have referred to this situation on Monday as ‘End of the World’. Besides, the Chinese press has described it as apocalyptic. An international environmental rights organisation has claimed that the Monday-situation results from intense climatic change and desertification.
