China prevented Taiwan’s participation in WHA, fearing divulgence

Washington/Taipei : The World Health Assembly of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has begun. China used its influence to prevent Taiwan’s participation in this assembly. The reason for this is, in 2019, Taiwan had tried to alert the world of the Coronavirus outbreak in China. Thus, had Taiwan mentioned this point in the assembly, China could have been exposed to suppressing information. Also, the support of WHO to it would be known globally. Hence, China has been accused of preventing Taiwan from attending the World Health Assembly, fearing divulgence.

Besides, discussions are happening to figure out ways to tackle the new wave of ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. However, a few days before this conference, news had surfaced confirming the accusations of Coronavirus originating from the Wuhan laboratory in China. Chinese virologist Dr Li-Meng Yan declared of having evidence about it. Moreover, in 2019, three Chinese researchers that worked in this lab fell ill due to the virus. However, China buried all information regarding this, claim the western press.

This news has affirmed the accusation of China having initiated biowarfare with the Coronavirus. Hence, by rejecting Taiwan’s participation in the assembly, China has raised the level of suspicion furthermore. In 2019, Taiwan had warned the world of the Coronavirus spreading in China. Taiwan also appealed to the World Health Organisation to pay attention to it. Nevertheless, Taiwan did not get a response. By reviving this claim at the assembly, Taiwan could have cornered China; this could have exposed China before the world. So, China is being debated to have prevented Taiwan’s participation in the assembly.

Moreover, Taiwan also accused China of preventing its participation in the assembly. Also, Taiwanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu called on WHO not to function under China’s influence and let Taiwan participate in the assembly. The Chinese Communist regime and WHO have denied Taiwan participation in the assembly, accused former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley. ‘China feels nothing wrong in factionalism to achieve its goals. This country does not care about the trouble caused by the Coronavirus pandemic,’ said Haley as she sternly criticised China’s move.
