Accusing Iran of drone incursion, Israel launches another airstrike in Syria. – Iran warns of a counter-response

Jerusalem/Tehran – The covert war between Israel and Iran has intensified. The Israeli army alleged that the drone that infiltrated Israel from Syria was from Iran. Just a few hours after this, there were heavy airstrikes on the Iranian laboratory in Damascus, the capital of Syria. The Syrian agencies claim it killed two civilians, which has become Israel’s fourth attack on Syria in the last six days.

On Sunday, the Israeli airstrike in Syria killed a senior commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards two days ago. Besides, Iran had announced that its commander was killed in an attack in Syria. In the next few hours, drones had infiltrated Israeli territory from Syria’s Golan border. Israeli helicopters and fighter jets shot down these surveillance drones. After inspecting the spare parts of the drone, the Israeli army revealed that it was an Iranian-made drone. The Israeli military declared information regarding this on Monday.

After midnight on Monday, airstrikes shooked the Syrian capital Damascus again. UK-based Syrian Human Rights Organisation reported that Israeli missiles hit an Iranian laboratory in the Al-Kiswah area near Damascus International Airport. In addition, the Syrian army claimed that the attack killed two civilians. But the intensity of this explosion was so big that it was also heard in the Qasioun mountain area and Al-Sayyidah Zaynab area. Consequently, the attack at Al-Kiswah resulted in major casualties and financial losses, and human rights organisations suspect that the Syrian government has been suppressing information.

Moreover, the Syrian army alleges this to be Israel’s fourth attack on its country in the last six days. All these attacks have targeted Iran and Hezbollah locations in Syria. Israel has not claimed responsibility for any of these attacks. But Prime Minister Netanyahu’s expression at this time indicated that they were forcing countries that support terrorists to pay a heavy price. Iran, which lost two of its top commanders, expressed its rage over the attacks in Syria.

Furthermore, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, criticised the strikes in Syria as targeting its soldiers and interests. Also, Iravani has said in a letter written to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that he will protect his interests in Syria from these attacks. Simultaneously, the ambassador of Iran warned of a counter-response to these attacks on Iran.

Meanwhile, international analysts claim a new covert war has started between Israel and Iran over the past few days. Just last week, a big plot to attack Israel’s cultural centre and other important places was foiled in Greece. There were reports that Iran had hatched this plot with the help of Pakistani terrorists. After this, the intensity of the attacks on the Iranian locations in Syria seems to have increased further.
