On the contrary, an insistent stance has been taken that a comprehensive government should be established in Afghanistan and that this country should not be used for terrorist activities. But at the same time, India has consistently made efforts to provide full assistance to the country at this level to face the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. In the last year, India has sent huge amounts of aid through food grains, medicines and other essential goods to Afghanistan.

To facilitate assistance to Afghanistan, India has maintained diplomatic ties by deploying a squad at its embassy. As the next phase of this assistance, India initiated a joint working group in talks with Central Asian countries. The working group involves Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. A meeting involving the representatives of these countries was held on Tuesday. Representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) and the UN World Food Programme (UNWFP) also participated in the meeting.

Furthermore, the representatives at the meeting noted India’s initiative for the high-level meeting and other matters and even praised India for it. Besides, the joint working group’s statement also includes the issues of women’s rights and girls’ education in Afghanistan.
